The Text Editor Screen

The screen is designed for viewing and editing text files.


Upper Control Panel contains:

  • left — "Back" icon, "Text Editor" header and the current file name;
  • right — action icons:
  • Save — saves changes to the file;
  • Open in New Window — opens the current file in a separate tab of the system task switcher;
  • More Options — calls a dropdown menu with additional actions (available on screens with normal size, on screens with large size, additional menu items are displayed next to the main ones).

Additional Menu includes:

  • Search — displays a search bar with a text field and navigation buttons:
  • left arrow — go to previous match;
  • right arrow — go to next match;
  • cross — close the search bar.

  • Font — selection of text font family.
    When pressed, a list of available fonts is displayed. The selected font is applied immediately.

  • Font Size — setting text scaling.
    When activated, a size selection slider appears below (default — 14 pt).

  • Encoding — selection of text encoding (e.g., UTF-8, US-ASCII).
    A list of available options is displayed. When selected, the encoding is applied immediately.

  • Line Numbers — enabling or disabling the display of line numbers.
    When pressed, a window with a toggle switch appears.

To close any of these submenus, press the "Cross" button in the upper right corner of the corresponding window.


Main Part of the Screen — editable text field with file contents.
Cursor control, text selection, auto-scroll, and real-time change display are supported.


When attempting to exit with unsaved changes, a dialog box is displayed:

"Save Changes?"

The following actions are available:

  • Yes — save changes and close the editor;
  • Cancel — close the dialog and continue editing.
